No, I’m not participating in the day of silence in solidarity with other online radio stations to raise awareness for the pending changes to how royalties are collected for internet radio, changes that could wipe out internet radio. First of all, I’m being selfish and am a bit tired of how many outages and other […]

Because I don’t have time to update the playlist to stick in those commercials that happen to be for exactly what you’re already listening to. I found a script that does smart shuffling, to avoid a repeat of last week’s Donny Osmond catastrophe. That’s been implemented, but now I have to figure out how to […]

Actually, I should be saying, “Bad Shoutcast-for-Linux!” because it seems to not understand that “shuffle” mode means ongoing randomness. By some reasonable chance and the fact that I’ve given some songs more weight than others in the playlist, a song might just happen to play twice in a row. It should be more like a […]

So the problem relates to how MP3s can been encoded with tags of either the ID3v1 or ID3v2 variety. 99% of my music has an ID3v2 tag, and the song-rater had been creating song records off the information that’s been coming from that. Crappy Shoutcast for Linux will only read ID3v1 tags, and if it […]

My big technical problem…two characters transposed in a password in a script.
Song requester: haven’t looked into it yet.
Songs appear in song-rating-widget with new artist-title strings: a mess; not sure how to best clean up.

On the new server, the playlist includes to ID tags, so the rating widget looks solely at the file name. The result is that, much of the time, a new recording title with a slightly different name is used.
It can be as subtle as this:
Songs that have a [ ‘ ] now are treated as […]

15 listeners, so folks are finding the new link. Very good.
No requests for the forseeable future. Not so good.
List of songs recently played not working. Not so good, but a fix shouldn’t be too difficult.
Crossfading works! Most excellent. Every time I tried to get it working with the old set-up, the steam output would go […]

I’m tired of hearing my tri-lingual recording on repeat after about a minute, so I hope listeners will be tired, too, but they will want to listen to Toastie Radio enough to actually go to this website to grab the new link.
I’ll probably suffer a big drop-off in listeners, but I’ve changed stream IP addresses […]

If you have bookmarked in your music player the stream URL for Toastie Radio, that link will stop working in a couple of days.
This will be the new link:
http://216.218.195.74:6150/listen.pls
You can use it right now. It will have the same playlist, but won’t play the same songs at the same time. Hmm…I could make this […]

I don’t know quite how long they weren’t working, but you can now feel free to leave comments with entries or to sign the guestbook. Fun math problems are there to prevent spam.
And I’m aware the stream was down for yet another 10 hours this morning. My excellent stream host provider EGIHosting is allowing me […]
